Mommy Monday

Just a quick post to talk about a few things that I'm thankful for this week.
On Wednesday after he went to sleep, Chase woke up because he began throwing up. Thankfully Jesse was home, as cleaning up throw up is by far one of my least favorite things in the world. Ever. Also thankfully, he only threw up a grand total of 3 times and it was over after approximately an hour, so we didn't lose too much sleep. Unfortunately, he has had 1 super disgusting diaper per day since then. I'm not sure if it's related to that or if he's getting some teeth or what on earth is going on, but hopefully that will be over with soon.
.
I'm thankful for the disinfecting power that this baby holds.

Also thankful for the cleaning power this detergent has.

Thankful for the scrubby side that these wipes have. Makes it super easy to get super sticky things off.

Thankful for this spray that doesn't need to be wiped off. It's safe enough to use around animals and babies!
This came in handy after Olivia threw up on Saturday morning. Thankfully this happened only one time and she's been completely fine ever since.

We apparently got some super short strain of the stomach flu and it appears that we're all better now, which, let me tell you, is wonderful!

Snow

Yesterday, we had a snowstorm and of course, the children were excited. They spent time just staring out the window at it. After his nap, Chase looked out his window and watched our neighbor Kyle, my best friend's husband (Catch her blog here) snow blow his driveway for around 10 minutes. I guess that is pretty exciting?

They've also been entertaining themselves by sliding on the treadmill. I don't know where they get these crazy ideas, but these kids are hilarious.

They even take turns which is even more crazy. I've never heard or seen them fight about it. They just hop on there, slide down to the end, get off, and start all over again.

Something Danette and I have been looking forward to since whenever we found out about it last year was going to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. This is Danette's favorite Disney princess and one of my favorite as well. It also happens to be one of Olivia's favorite. I'm not sure what order her favorites are anymore but Rapunzel, Belle, and Snow White are her top 3 favorites. Today was the day we were finally able to see it so, of course, we took Olivia. (No, this is not Olivia's first movie. Her first was The Lion King 3D. Anyone seeing a trend here??) Olivia loved it, of course, as did both Danette and I. Beauty and the Beast never gets old and it was AWESOME in 3D. I highly recommend it if you can get there before it closes!

You've got to be kidding me

I won't lie, it has been an eventful past 3 months when it comes to vehicles in our family. Somehow we've managed to get creamed by a non-law abiding driver and now I've managed to smash into a deer. Last Wednesday the kids and I were driving to Hobby Lobby to pick up some craft items when out of no where I saw five deer start to jump out of the ditch and run across the road. Unfortunately, I was too close to them to avoid them, but I was able to slow down considerably before I hit the second deer. I watched the van hit the deer and then watched the deer fall down and roll across the street and onto the shoulder. I then pulled the van over to the side of the road. Thankfully, the oncoming driver was able to call the police as I could not get my phone to work. I think the driver was under the false impression that I might have been injured as all he could see as he pulled up was me pounding the steering wheel. I could not have been more angry, quite frankly. The deer, of course, was fine and ran away shortly after she stopped rolling, but all I wanted to do was find that stupid deer and punch it in the face. After the policeman showed up and wrote down the information that he and I needed, we drove to my parents house where we could assess the damage more clearly. As I was telling my mom about how I saw the deer roll across the road, Olivia whispers in my ear, "Mommy, I saw that too." I thought that she would probably be sad for the deer or something, but instead Olivia seemed to find it very amusing that the deer rolled across the road after we hit it.

This is a picture of our van right before we took it in on Monday to get an estimate. They called us back Monday afternoon to tell us that the damage was already around $5,000 and they hadn't even taken it apart yet. They thought they'd be able to get it fixed by the 27th. They called us today to tell us that the grand total is just shy of $7,000 and that they will probably get it done by the 31st or the 1st of February. This leaves us with just Jesse's car until then. Good thing we rarely have anywhere to go while Jesse is at work. :)

One of those days

Today started out with the kids watching some cartoons together and playing with toys together
but that quickly turned into this...
I think it kind of looks like she got punched but Chase actually bit her. :/ I'm not really sure what to do with a biter since Olivia never bit anyone, but I'm sure we'll figure it out

Catch up

It looks like it's time to play catch up. In between being a mommy, coaching, and going to school,I've obviously had a difficult time keeping up. However, that is going to change.

One of the most traumatic and inconvenient things to happen to us occurred on October 24, 2010. The kids and I were leaving my parents house when a car ran a red light and smashed right into Chase's side of our Expedition. The second after the impact Chase immediately began screaming and crying and I thought that he was hurt. I put the car in park and ran around the car and got him out of his seat belt (probably a world record, by the way) and found that he was okay. I then ran over to Olivia's door, opened it, and sat there with both kids thankful that we were all okay. A neighbor had called the police and a worker that was working across the street called my mom and she and my brother came quickly. While we waited for everything that the police had to take care of, my mom took the kids back to her house and Matt stayed and waited with me. All of this led us to have to go car hunting and buy new car seats for both kids. Jesse was able to get one for Chase on his way to my parents house and Julia let us borrow one of her kids car seats so we were well taken care of.
This is the car that hit us. Both of his airbags deployed and he was unable to drive it at all.
And here is our Expedition that was totaled by a Pontiac Grand Prix. I don't even know how such a small car could total a vehicle that is built like a tank, but it's possible. If you look close in the picture you can see Olivia behind the Expedition. She was helping Jesse get the license plates and was saying goodbye to "Mommy's car". We really did love this huge vehicle.

Last fall we were also able to go to the pumpkin patch twice; once with my parents and siblings, and once with Wes, Kate, and Hayden.

Here Chase is overwhelmed with all his options.
And here Olivia is posing by the Minnie and Mickey painted pumpkin.
Here are the cousins (and Jesse haha).

Olivia and Chase in the school bus.
Chase LOVED the rabbits.
Olivia posing by our pumpkins in her giraffe costume all ready to trick or treat.
And here are both of our kids ready to trick or treat. Chase was not a fan of his costume, but he stuck it out long enough to get quite a bit of candy.
